Coca-Cola and In Cultura Veritas recently joined forces in Rio, in their efforts to help the children of Rocinha, one of the poorest favelas in Rio de Janiero. August 24, our representative, Michel Thomas, along with his colleagues and friends, had the great pleasure to play Santa Claus in delivering a veritable truck load of goods to the favela, all graciously donated by Coca-Cola in collaboration with In Cultura Veritas’ charitable projects. For the hundreds of children of the favela, this was truly like Christmas!
Imagine the scene, distributing hundreds of sport shoes, tongs, shirts, jackets, t-shirts, polo shirts, caps and scarves, …all to enable even the poorest children and adolescents of this favela to dress with dignity. In addition, Coca-Cola donated numerous other items including umbrellas, backpacks (very useful for the students!), and 276 tubes of mosquito repellant and sunscreen.
The Garagem das Letras (a ‘club house’, lending library, and a place to learn computer skills) was given not only a diverse selection of office supplies (notebooks, pens, etc.), but also the amazing gift of two computers and two printers, augmenting the two donated by In Cultura Veritas just a couple of months ago. Now the children of Rocinha can more easily learn how to utilize this mode of modern communication and discover the world.
Finally, more than 900 white t-shirts (with no corporate logos) were donated to the association Il Sorriso dei Miei Bimbi (My Children’s Smile) to launch a marketing project that will finance educational programs in the heart of the favela (details of which will be unveiled here shortly!)
Thanks to the generosity of Coca-Cola, hundreds of children can ‘Taste the Feeling’!
